I think a lot of people might find this useful:

It would be great if we could set a 320x320 image as the "background" on the emblem editor's canvas, which could then be "traced over" using the editor's shapes and tools.

Obviously the image would not be saved with the emblem, but it would allow more accurate reproduction of source material, and would also allow people to sketch out designs in other graphics software to use as a "stencil" in the emblem editor.

I've already been doing this manually with my browser's developer tools but to be able to do it quickly through BBLog would be awesome.
Sounds like a neat idea.
Hm, sounds interesting. Will try some stuff.
that sounds really good! would help a lot of clans and platoons more, to re-create their logos. think that could be a nice feature for battlelog and it shouldn't be too difficult, or brain?
Don't think it's difficult.

Nice one! Thanks!
Is it possible to use a URL, or do you have to have it on your own machine?

It's designed to choose a local file.

So far you can use technique described in my post on battlelog forums:

I also provide a simple Chrome Extensions with required features.
I used to do this with css in browser developer tools.

I find it much more useful to have the image as
overlay
at certain opacity/transparency. With the trace image as background sometimes the shapes went over stuff as you have to make out different shapes out of squares and so on.

-> Select emblem you want to edit, click browse button and upload image
BBlog options below Battlelog emblem options

Notice: The image upload is not permanent and just there to make the creation of emblems easier. It doesn't replace emblems.
Good stuff, Brain. Great feature.
