Clicking on a layer while one wasn't selected previously makes the layer detail window instantly appear. Would it be possible to have it scroll in/out? Its not a vital function, but it helps keep a visual on your layers; your eyes can follow them rather than having to re-find them

Now i know what you mean but i don't see a real improvement here.
Sliding in will disturb people that want fast edit. Zack zack, click click. Sliding effect will stop you for some short time.
So you see the other side of the medal.
On the battlelog standard design it's pretty clear which layer you have selected so the eyes may not need to research something.
